Broadway’s Chris Barnes visits ‘Salone Del Mobile 2016’

“From 12th-17th April 2016, Broadway’s Managing Director Chris Barnes visited the worldwide renowned ‘Salone del Mobile’ design exhibition in Milan. Now in it’s 55th year, it is a week packed with events, exhibitions and presentations, where everyone who’s anyone in design across the world, come together to keep up with the latest developments in the field.

We asked Chris some questions to help us understand more about the event:

Why do so many of the interior design professionals in Dubai visit the event?
“It’s one of the global exhibitions that focuses exclusively on interior design and all its constituent parts and with Milan so conveniently accessible from Dubai, it’s a must for Dubai design professionals. The exhibition is spread over 24 exhibition halls and many satellite and fringe exhibitions throughout the city. Basically you immerse yourself in Interior Design and seek products and ideas that you can transpose into your own schemes whether it be for immediate use or to log them in the memory bank for a time when they can be introduced into a concept at a later date.

What do you do whilst you are there?
A lot of walking! It is extremely busy and there are always a number of interesting products and displays to find. It is also a good opportunity to catch up with your industry peers from Dubai, we are always so busy we don’t often get the chance to exchange stories and ideas therefore it is a great way of spending time together.”
